Week One: Group Discussion, Pt I

1:30-2:20 (again let out early)
Paul Duax

Random Thought: "...This class can't possibly be this small, right?" (It is. 35 capacity, 28-ish students.)

First Impression of Mr. Paul Duax: "Somehow like a far less crazy version of my last English teacher." Once he said that one will never have a close relationship with their boss because they could never talk about their illegal drug usage, I loved him from that point onward.

People in Class: Nobody I know. But, the class revolves around group projects (if one had not previously guessed such a thing) so I'm sure that'll change. Also, there are several Mike Shinoda if he were also Mexican look a likes. It weirds me out.

Homework: Read first chapter in textbook and be able to answer an essay question similar to, "what is competence". Then read some of the closer looks/focus ons and choose one to speak of to a group next week. Presentation should consist of a summary of the case and then critical thinking on the case, including why its put in a book about group discussion. 10pts just for doing it, due Tuesday September 4th.

Coming Soon: Group project in which we pick a social issue and then write a group paper on it. Each person must find at least four sources, and the bibliography must be done in MLA format.
